My grand father was just that, a grand figure in my life. He had a huge presence and was uncompromising in his convictions, from an aggressive, driven approach to business and supporting the Geelong Football Club, to a life long search for spiritual and physical meaning in the universe. From the denial of global warming to the certainty of the existence of UFOs, his contradictory interests were genius. It was with Pa that I first travelled the whole of Australia at 18. He was a keen photographer of the family, compiling thousands of slides he would show at family functions. These were later compiled into a seemingly endless almanac of family history.
Pa’s character, interests and ways of working have had a direct influence in my life and art practice. He was one of the very few people that took my work with photographic orbs seriously - he proclaimed “This should be on the six o’clock news!!”. The contents of this publication has been selected from a few boxes of texts he left me when he passed.
I think of you often. Love and miss you always,
